This is the first of three articles that highlights of the Surgeon General’s Advisory on Firearm Violence.

On June 25th, 2024, Surgeon General Vivek Murthy declared firearm violence to be a public health crisis through a published advisory. I reviewed the advisory and have found it to be extremely partisan to the point I can confidently declare it as disinformation. The Surgeon General primarily cites partisan and bias sources and serves as a mouthpiece for progressive figures. It is important to note that he is a political appointee.

For the foreseeable future, it is likely many state governments will cite this advisory in legislations and lawsuits. These are likely the same governments that legalized marijuana when past Surgeon Generals published warnings against it. There is a word for this. Hypocrisy!

This infographic displays Surgeon General and progressive’s gun-control disinformation at one of its finest.

The purpose of this infographic is to show how 48,204 that died in 2022 from firearm injuries lead to 79% of adults experiencing stress from threat of mass shooting. Feel free to read all the other gaslighting stats and statements from the Surgeon General provided in the visual. 48,204 includes suicides, which constitutes almost 60% of the number. To include suicides and artificially inflate the death numbers in the advisory and infographic statistics, the Surgeon General is either morally bankrupt or an idiot incapable of realizing suicides have no impact on public safety. Since he is not an idiot, he must be morally bankrupt set on spreading disinformation and is a mouthpiece for the progressives (extreme-left) that are trying to ban firearms for political gains.

*Note: The progressives are more interested in equity, distinction, and racial separation while liberals are more interested in advance equality and integration.

The Surgeon General’s if-then logic argument is:

If more people commit suicide by firearms, then more people died by firearm injuries.
If more people died by firearm injuries, then more people experience stress from possibility of mass shooting.
Thereforeif more people commit suicide by firearm, then more people will experience stress from possibility of mass shooting.

How do individuals committing suicide lead to teens worrying about shootings in schools and adults fearing mass shootings? It doesn’t, but the Surgeon General thinks so and uses it to monger fear. Using the same database used by the Surgeon General for the same period, CDC Wonder, number of people that died from firearm injuries in 2022 from illegal and assault use was 19,651. Suicides alone counted for 27,032. As tragic as suicides are, it makes no logical sense how it will have cascading fear effects on the public and yet the Surgeon General uses it to monger fear and use it in an advisory that will be weaponized across the US.

The truth is suicide is a mental health issue caused by morbid depression, life situation, and culture expectations. The suicide rate in South Korea far exceeds that of the United States. Their weapon of choice are bridges. Guess what they don’t have, guns. Firearms do not work the way the “One Ring” works [Insert Babylon Bee YouTube video here, j/k]. The Surgeon General and the progressives would have you believe firearms sweet talk people into committing suicide. Lack of guns do not alleviate factors that drive South Koreans into committing suicide. Americans are not that much different from South Koreans. Then again, the progressives would have us believe in distinction and racial separation.

Let’s talk about morality. Mothers abort their fetus or child to prevent her or future suffering. People commit suicide to end current suffering. It’s ironic how the progressives are so supportive of abortions and euthanasia but are so quick to weaponize statistics related to suicides when it is convenient for their political cause and monger fear within the public. Abortions and suicides are morally in the same ballpark. This is not a criticism of choice but of consistency. This is moral hypocrisy.

Lastly on this, the sources are biased and dishonest for use of health advisory purposes. Sources such as The Southern Poverty Law Center will provide skewed data that are unusable. Firearm violence data collected from poverty-stricken demographics will be significantly inflated and do not represent the greater US. Everytown is one of the most powerful gun-control advocates in the US. Mr. Surgeon General, I expect better from someone of your caliber, or should I?
